Diving deeper into the interest of watches it might be fun to learn more about how it looks inside the watch and even start doing some own changes and fixes to your watch.
After changing straps changing your watch’s battery might be the second easiest and most satisfying thing to do. Therefore we have created a simple guide to how to do this by yourself.
- Gather the necessary tools. You will need a small flathead screwdriver and a new battery.
- Remove the back cover of the watch. This is usually held in place by small screws or a snap-fit. Use the flathead screwdriver to loosen the screws, or gently pry off the back cover if it is a snap-fit.
- Locate the battery. It should be obvious once the back cover is removed.
- Remove the old battery. Depending on the design of your watch, you may need to use the flathead screwdriver to gently lift the battery out of its compartment. Be careful not to damage any of the watch’s internal components.
- Insert the new battery. Make sure the positive and negative ends of the battery are facing the correct direction. Consult the watch’s manual or do a quick online search if you are unsure which end is which. This is easy on the flat watch batteries, but look at how the previous battery was attached before and apply in same direction.
- Close the back cover of the watch. If the cover was held in place by screws, use the flathead screwdriver to tighten them back up. If it was a snap fit, press down on the edges of the cover until it snaps back into place.
- Test the watch to ensure the battery change was successful. Set the time and make sure the watch is running properly.
If you are unsure about any part of the process or are uncomfortable performing the battery change yourself, it’s always a good idea to seek the help of a professional.
